I originally made this community to be for those showing up, or likely to show up, for Argamon meetings.

Originally, [livejournal.com profile] esotericmasons was supposed to be for the Quincy MA Esoteric Club, and now, understandably, it has members who are nowhere near Quincy, and never will be.

So I made this one.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not looking to exclude anyone who has some good advice to give.
Because by doing that, I'd be alienating men whose support we need.

Men whose prayers can help us, can help show us that we aren't crazy for wanting this, can help us push forward ... because I do believe in the power of prayer.

One additional note: I just added [livejournal.com profile] frommy as a maintainer, that way if I am unavailable, he can approve requests to join.

Here's a thought about how we can keep somewhat focused on using this to set up an actual lodge in the Boston area in spite of having valued out-of-state colleagues in the community:

How about we add a section to the description of the community in which we can list the people who have committed to signing the petition to charter said lodge (with LJ nicks if applicable, but full names is probably not necessary)? That way we could track our progress towards getting the critical mass necessary to actual start a real lodge even if not all those people were able to come to every meeting.

You can add me to that list. I am a member, and Junior Deacon, of St. John's Lodge in Boston.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

You're added; glad to have you aboard! We'll have to start thinking about having another meeting in person now that there seems to be a resurrgence of interest. I'm looking forward to meeting you as well.

I know that I am too far away to participate in Argamon meetings, but I was having a discussion with several Brothers at lunch about forming just such a club as this, and I thought that perhaps as we progress out here in Washington, and you in MA, we might have something to add to each other.

[livejournal.com profile] frodo_jim is a good friend of mine, and a PM of Kirkland Lodge. :)
It's hard to find a way to start a program that is going to appeal to the niche interests of members of your lodge without making others feel awkward, I think. Kirkland Lodge has 164 men on the books, but only about 20 or so who I would consider even semi-active. When we have started small programs outside of the lodge room meant to stimulate more interest and involvement I have received phone calls and heard grumbles about unnecessary innovations in Masonry.
I don't know what to do about that but to calms try to settle spirits. I do know, however, that the fastest growing lodges in California are the ones that grow small special interest groups / activity groups within them, and invite non-Masons to participate. I will have to check in with a few friends who have better information about that and write more about it later.
